Influencers' INFLUENCE: celebrities' impact on fashion trends

“Wow that's so cool, did you see the way Kendall Jenner Wore that dress, that was ICONIC!” 

See, this is exactly how it starts, it is like a domino effect, what people see, people end up wanting. It's not just about how it looks, it's a matter of WHO is wearing it! 

In today's world, celebrities have a big impact on fashion trends. Influencers such as Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Paris Hilton have set new standards, and their influence is undeniable!

Athletic wear 

Now many of you may have heard of the athletic brand Gymshark, I have been wanting a new set of gym clothes. Influencers like Jennifer Garner, Vanessa Hudgens, Gabrielle Union, and Sarah Hyland cannot resist this fabulous comfortable material. It already makes me want to buy some Gymshark clothes. Many people are influenced when they see their favourite actors, singers, or social media influencers wearing certain brands.  All because we tend to think that if a celebrity is wearing it then it must be good stuff. People like myself have been eyeing the brand and waiting for the prices to drop! 

There is definitely a psychological reason why everyone wants to follow trends set by celebrities, but this is a fashion blog, so don't worry; I won't be getting into the psychological factors that come into play.

Biker Shorts Era 

I used to always want biker shorts the second they came into style; I was obsessed with the look of wearing an oversized t-shirt or oversized sweater. I remember online shopping for them like it was yesterday (good old days). Kim Kardashian brought the biker shorts trend to life. Paparazzi and her fans were blown away when she styled these basic shorts with just about anything, no matter the event!

Influenced Accessories?? (yeah, accessories get influenced too!)

How can I talk about influence without throwing it back a little bit and sprinkling in a bit about accessories? Back in the 2000s, Paris Hilton was a huge influence on fashion. Nowadays, it's all about who can wear the smallest glasses, but Paris made big glasses trendy back then. The bigger the glasses, the better ;)

Now for something more recent….

Trend-setting Queen  

Glazed donut nails and skin, latte makeup, cinnamon cookie butter hair, and gold hoop earrings— I'm sure you have heard of it all. Hailey Bieber has taken the internet by storm with not only her amazing nail style but also her street style. People have been obsessing over her style since it's so simple yet fashionable; anybody can dress up like her, and I think that's what makes her so appealing. Just put on a plain baby tee, some jeans, and an oversized jacket, and boom! You have that Hailey Bieber look <3

The moral of the story is … 

1. When a celebrity/ influencer wears something unique and pulls it off, we want to try to emulate that look! 

2. Thanks to social media, it's now much easier to stay up to date on the latest trends! 

3. You see it, you like it, you want it!
